The Hacienda 51: an orchestra on the Amnesia dancefloor to celebrate 50 years of music

On Saturday 19 September, Amnesia will host a special performance by Haçienda Classiçal, a project that brings the energy of club culture into an orchestral setting, with Alison Limerick as a special guest.

On Saturday 19 September, as part of our 50th anniversary celebrations, Amnesia Ibiza will host a unique event in our history: a live orchestra will take over the club’s iconic Terrace for Haçienda Classiçal, the project born from Manchester’s legendary The Haçienda, reinterpreting some of the greatest anthems of dance culture through orchestral arrangements.

The concept is built around a simple yet unusual idea: bringing club music into an entirely different setting without losing its essence. Under the project’s musical direction, dancefloor classics meet strings, brass, percussion and vocals, creating an experience that moves between a live concert and house music.

Now in its ninth year, Haçienda Classiçal has performed at some of the UK’s most renowned venues, including the Royal Albert Hall, Castlefield Bowl and The Warehouse Project, as well as festivals and major venues. Its unique ability to bring different audiences together through a shared musical experience has become a defining part of the project.

At Amnesia, this encounter takes on a special meaning. The club was born 50 years ago as a space for experimentation, where music could escape conventions and different genres, audiences and forms of expression could share the same space. Bringing an orchestra onto the dancefloor continues, in its own way, that same tradition: taking music into unexpected territory and seeing what happens when two worlds meet.

The night will also feature Alison Limerick, who will perform one of house music’s greatest anthems, “Where Love Lives”, bringing one of the most recognisable voices in dance music to the Amnesia dancefloor. She will be joined by David Morales, Inner City Live, Todd Terry, Mike Pickering and DJ Paulette, alongside the live orchestra, bringing together some of the most influential names in house music and the history of The Haçienda.

The performance will feature Graeme Park, a key figure in the history of The Haçienda and a pioneer of British house music, who joins Haçienda Classiçal as DJ and musical supervisor. His career is closely intertwined with the evolution of dance music: he began his residency at The Haçienda in 1988 and remained behind the club’s decks for nine years.

The Haçienda 51 will therefore be much more than a special date in the Amnesia calendar. It will be a meeting between two spaces that, from different places and eras, understood the club as a place of freedom and musical experimentation.

On Saturday 19 September, the orchestra takes over the Amnesia dancefloor.
